My Story & Vision

I’m Chris, the founder of Etchr CIC. I wanted to share why I am so motivated to support our community.

My life is one of extremes. I’ve had a successful career in IT and I’ve been a drug addict, prisoner and homeless more times that I care to remember.

I am incredibly lucky to even be alive. My lifestyle and addiction resulted in sepsis, not once, but twice!

If not for local charities like Cirencester Signpost and the kindness of strangers, I may have never got myself together.

I’m lucky to live in the Cotswolds, yet there is still poverty here. There are families struggling or broken, elderly people who are lonely or struggling. It was whilst volunteering at Cirencester Signpost that I started considering if I could do a bit more to help. Maybe I could support the charities that support the people who need it. I have useful IT skills.

I want to help as many as possible, I didn’t think starting a charity was the right fit for me, but perhaps my skills could help the charities we already have. Perhaps I could come up with something that would give young people stuff to get involved with. Perhaps we could start a service or make something to earn a profit. After researching, I discovered Community Interest Company’s – So I’ve started one…

As a CIC, we reinvest our profits back into the community with a variety of projects.
